The Chai4Humanity (C4H) International Relief Fund was started in January 2010 by Rucheli (Cathleen) Manville, a UCF Honors Engineering student. (Yep, that’s me!) The fund is a Jewish organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of those affected by natural disasters and Acts of G-d, regardless of race or religious affiliation. Right now, this means giving survivors of the Haitian Earthquakes all of the help they can get.
Chai4Humanity is working in conjunction with the UCF College of Engineering, the UCF Honors College, and several student organizations such as the Chabad Jewish Student Group, Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity, and the Institute of Industrial Engineering to collect clothing, supplies, and donations for Haitian relief efforts. The clothing and supply drive will be held at UCF from Monday, January 25th to Friday January 29th. Monetary donations are accepted 24/7 on C4H’s website: www.chai4humanity.org.
All monetary donations received will be immediately delivered to relief organizations already on the ground in Haiti, such as Red Cross, UNICEF, Doctors without Borders, etc. Clothing and supplies received will stay in the Central Florida area to assist with the incoming Haitian orphans and survivors being flown into Orlando-Sanford International Airport.
Please bring gently used clothing, non-perishable food, toiletries, and other supplies to UCF from Jan 25-29th. Drop-offs can be made in the following locations:
Burnett Honors College, Rm 106
Engineering Building 1, Rm 107
Engineering Building 2, Rm 312
We will also be tabling in front of the Student Union on Wednesday, January 27th to accept drop-offs and donations.
We can always use more volunteers! Want to get more involved? Email firstname.lastname@example.org for details. You do not have to be Jewish to get involved!
